Disposable: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
Australia’s very own King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - or as I like to call them; our Wizard Boys - recently came back down under for the first time in two years to continue their Phantom Island tour, which by the way happens to be their twenty seventh studio album.
After a leg in the States and a leg in the EU/UK, the guys decided to throw one last hurrah on home soil. It all started with a surprise free rave-set in their hometown of Naarm (Melbourne), where they stepped away from the mics for the night and let the synths do the talking. This was followed by nine additional shows across Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Of the nine shows, five of them were accompanied by entire orchestras on stage. The whole thing was a fucking spectacle. But thankfully, we knew it would be. So, we preemptively decided to slip them a couple of disposable cameras. We told them that they could shoot whatever the hell they wanted, but it turns out all they wanted to shoot was each other.
While the tour is now over, one thing we know to be true about this band is that they don’t stay in hibernation for long…
