Hi Fi: Pavement

Just as Steve West and Bob Nastanovich of Pavement walked into Sydney’s Red Eye Records, some guy accidentally bumped into them, dropping his newly purchased record on the ground. You want to guess which record it was?

A Pavement one. I couldn’t even script this if I tried. The poor fella was starstruck, mumbling that he just saw them play the night before at the show in Thirroul and continued to fumble the rest of the things in his hands. Bob, a very funny man in any regard, simply picked up the record handing it back to him along with the receipt and said, ‘better keep this in case the record is shit and you want to exchange it.’ We didn’t catch any of this on film obviously, but we’ve got something better when you hit play.
