You Missed It: The Kirin Ichiban Listening Room With Gilles Peterson
Usually we like to crash parties. This time we decided to throw one.
On Sunday 22nd February, Monster Children hosted the Kirin Ichiban Listening Room with legendary UK DJ and broadcaster Gilles Peterson at the Ivy Penthouse in Sydney, and what an evening it was. Quite a fucking treat if you’ll pardon my French, but hi-fidelity and liquid gold call for strength and enthusiasm and perhaps a bit of cursing.
Guests were treated to a unique listening experience on a custom HiFi system built by Atlas Harmonic. Gilles played a curated list of tracks from his record collection, sharing personalised anecdotes about the music and reflections on almost five decades as a DJ and broadcaster.
Brewed with the same reverence for purity that defines the world’s great listening experiences, Kirin Ichiban is Japan’s premium first press beer, brewed using the finest ingredients leaving us with the purest taste. Using first press methodology, Kirin Ichiban achieves a crisp, balanced flavour that embodies the harmony of precision and simplicity. Every pour reflects the brand’s deep respect for craftsmanship, authenticity, and the quiet art of doing one thing exceptionally well. Framed as a temple of sound purity, the Listening Room allowed audiences to hear music in its most faithful form, vinyl through high-end audio, in a space designed for listening without distraction.
Between fanning out, asking for autographs, sipping beers, and feeling the delicate vibrations of perfectly selected tunes, it was a night to be hold with our pal Gilles and a select group of fellow audiophiles, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to host.
