Team Average Japan: A Year(ish) Later
A year ago this week, we were all over Tokyo, Japan, passed out in a tour bus chasing the surf up and down the coast with Austyn Gillette, Jake Anderson, Lilian Fev, Jaleesa Vincent, Kaito Ohashi, Shin Sanbongi, and Noa Deane.
It was a beautiful thing - ten days of skating, surfing, hanging, karaoke, ramen, Sapporo beers, and all the makings of new and lasting friendships. It’s quite special to travel together, but even more so to travel with strangers, united by a few common loves: skating, surfing, and adventure. From the long legacy of Team Average - Sri Lanka, Aotearoa, Australia, to now - has come a certain spirit; it has taken on a life of its own, and a special place in the weird Monster Children world. We’re stoked to keep it going. To many more memories and mistakes.
