(Non)Disposable: Tristan Martinez & Manual
Manual Holo V2 selfie.
As was written in a photography profile by Monster Children some time ago: ‘photography is a crowded field - every cunt with a trust fund is telling girls on Hinge that he’s a photographer these days.’
And it’s true, there are more photographers than ever, but the descriptors doing the most work in that phrase are, ‘cunt,’, and ‘trust fund’, which not every body is. There are a lot of photographers out there, but few are good, and the ones who are tend good people themselves. Take Tristan Martinez, for example. Not at all a cunt, no trust fund, good photographer.
Founded by Malcolm Día in 2016, Manual is a photography lifestyle rooted in New York’s creative community. Built on authenticity, cultural awareness, and creative relevance, Manual exists to make photography accessible to a new generation. When the two come together, sparks (camera flashes) fly. Rather than shooting a disposable camera for our classic and beloved editorial department, Disposable (thank you, thank you), we decided to get Tristan one of Manual’s best - the Holo V2 digital fixed lens point and shoot camera - for the first ever (Non) Disposable.
