Coming Soon: Monster Children Issue 75
Andy Warhol - between sips of prosecco and the rhythmic bumps of David Mancuso’s booming Klipsch sound system - once regaled a bewildered waiter, ‘they always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.’
‘Are you going to order anything?’ replied the waiter, the profoundness of Andy’s musings lost on him completely. Drawing upon his renowned wit and indelible charm, Warhol replied swiftly, ‘piss off you saucy little penguin fucker and get me another prosecco.’
While the waiter was a lost cause, Warhol’s meaning is not lost on us. The times change, but we seek to change them, and perhaps just a bit to our liking. If you want something done right, you’ve gotta do it yourself, and so in steering toward something better and more worthy than the city-sized data centers and chronic blue light syndrome of our time, we are delighted to announce the release of a very special print edition of Monster Children, lucky issue 75; real, physical, unshakable, un-deleteable, non-scrollable, flammable, framable - cut hot and dry and ready to be adored for years to come.
The issue features the most stylish, the most innovative, the most Monster Children - the weirdos, the thrill-seekers, the movers and the shakers, outsiders and everything in between in our beloved worlds of surf, skate, music, art, and travel.
Renowned dance music institution Avalanches detail the intricate trappings of their new album, No Bad Memories; Nick Boserio talks theater class and how to be a pro skater; Creed McTaggart is a painter/surfer/player; we almost talk to Barry McGee; Jerry Hsu and Daniel Arnold discuss their photographic habits and sex with famous people; Rocket is LA’s funnest band; actor, lawyer, and curator Miah Madden talks about how she manages to do all three; we go to Cuba, Palestine, Bhutan, and the other ends of the Earth; Cyrus Bennett is at home as a business owner; and much, much, much, so incredibly much more.
More than simply a collection of articles, words, blood, kickflips, drugs, culture, crime, success, love, dicks, tits, music, surfing, skating, scenes, people, places, art, and unbelievable stories only evidenced by beautifully-composed photographs, Monster Children issue #75 is a capsule - an artifact, a cultural object to be adored, referenced, and revered.
