Marshall’s Texas Funhouse

For three days and nights just last week, Marshall ran Austin, Texas.

For the second year in a row, Marshall put on the Marshall Funhouse - a three-day takeover of the Parish in Austin, Texas. In a week where hundreds of bands, promoters, and organizers are vying for audience attention, the extravaganza was something of a must-attend for lovers of guitar music, sludgy and experimental. Featuring bands off of the Marshall in-house label, Marshall Records, like, King Nun, Dream Nails, and Kid Bookie, as well as panel discussions centered on music, industry, and community, and activations with community partners like Women in Vinyl, and School of Rock. In addition to an immaculate program, there were carnival games, mascots - the sort of party our teenage selves would have snuck out of the house and lied to our parents for.

A highlight for us was Dinosaur Jr, blasting through Marshall cabinets mere feet from our faces. J. Mascis strumming away, his sweat being carried along the vibrating sound waves directly into our eye balls, it was a dream come true. Check out the photos and feel bad that you weren’t there.
