dither_ X Cement Fondu Presents Disco Dreamtime Drums

Cement Fondu’s new show ‘Disco Dreamtime Drums’ by Walmajarri artist John Prince Siddon is like stepping into a wild, colourful dream that's part pop culture party, part serious reality check - says Gosha Heldtz on dither_

‘With its eye-catching visuals and playful references, it's easy to get lost in the fun. But look closer, and you'll see a deeper story unfolding, a story of how the climate crisis is hitting Siddon's community in Fitzroy Crossing hard. Using materials from oil barrels to cow skulls as his canvas, his work forces you to look harder and reflect on the devastating damage this crisis has on indigenous peoples. Accompanying John’s work is Thea Anamara Perkins who is showing in the project space. Thea’s work mashes perfectly with John’s and echoes the urgent need for environmental action intertwined with land rights. This isn't your average art show, it's a wake-up call presented through deadly, funky, and fabulous visuals.’
