A carpenter buddy of mine landed a job building a studio for the Wu-Tang Clan.
This was around the time of Wu-Tang Forever, and it was awesome because at the end of every week he had at least one new and amazing Wu-Tang story. Unfortunately, I can’t share them here because, as we all know, Wu-Tang Clan is not something to fuck with or gossip about, but what about the time I met M.E.T.H.O.D. Man? That was great. He was awesome. I was expecting him to be scary, but he was cool and friendly. I asked if we could be roommates and he said no. True story. Anyhoo… How ’bout Hulu dropping the trailer for season 2 of Wu-Tang: An American Saga? Can’t wait. You might remember last season focused on the Clan’s pre-formation story, which was great, but season 2 is all about the creation of their debut LP Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), and that’s going to be so good to watch. There’s a lot of people talking about casting and people not looking or sounding like Clan members they’re portraying, but who gives a shit? The Wu-Tang story is amazing regardless of whether Inspectah Deck is played by Joey Bada$$ or Roger Moore.
In other Wu news: Raekwon and Ghostface Killah are headlining a concert in Staten Island (their native borough) on August 17 as part of a week-long festival celebrating the city’s recovery from the pandemic. Speaking on Hot 97, Mayor de Blasio announced the show and said it would be ‘a very powerful concert, a legendary concert, a legend in the making, and it will be in a mysterious place, shrouded in mystery, called Shaolin.’
