Marianne Faithfull and Warren Ellis are releasing She Walks in Beauty, a follow up to their 2018 collaboration, Faithful’s Negative Capability.
This is Faithful’s first creative endeavour since recovering from COVID 19 in April last year. The septuagenarian fell ill and was hospitalized in March and, being a septuagenarian, was fighting for her life. But she’s good now and the new album sounds very interesting indeed. Based on the poetic works of Shelley, Keats, Byron, Wordsworth, Tennyson, and Thomas, She Walks in Beauty features friends and fellow musicians Nick Cave, Brian Eno and the renowned French cellist Vincent Ségal.
‘I wasn’t in doubt,’ says Mare of the album’s poetic understructure. ‘I’ve been thinking about it for so long, this album, it’s been in my head for so long, I think I really knew exactly what I wanted. I just picked the poems I really loved, and I can’t help but say I think I was very lucky. We got it.’
She Walks in Beauty is set to drop April 30.
