In tribute to skate legend and historian Jeff Grosso, Vans has released a new Love Letters To Skateboarding episode based on the man himself.
The special episode celebrates Jeff’s life on what would have been his 52nd birthday and captures his raw, authentic and opinionated take on skateboarding that was captured during a decade of filming the series. Jeff’s genuine love of skateboarding shined through in everything he did, and his support for the community–especially the up-and-coming generations—came from a true belief that skateboarding belonged to the kids. Skateboarding lost a real one when Jeff passed, but his love for the community lives on in this very special episode, which you can hit play on above.
Alongside the Love Letters ep, Vans are releasing a Grosso Forever Collection with royalties going to Jeff’s son Oliver and his family. Featuring apparel and reissued Skate Sk8-Hi colourways from important moments in his career, the collection includes artwork from two of Jeff’s longtime friends, Bryce Kanights and John Lucero.
Jeff wore Vans for 50 years, and the Grosso Forever Skate Sk8-Hi features iconic designs that he wore during two formative moments in his early career: his part in Powel Peralta’s 1985 video Future Primitive (where Jeff wore the red/black Checkerboard Sk8-Hi) and his feature in 1988’s Santa Cruz/Hosoi Rockets ads where he wore a black/palms colourway.
The Grosso Forever Collection is now available at Vans Skateboarding retailers and Vans.com/Skate.
