Watch the Trailer for the First Ever Authorised Tina Turner Doc

It’s about time Tina Turner got her own feature-length documentary.

From the directors of LA 92 and Undefeated comes the simply titled Tina, an intimate profile of the iconic musician that includes never-before-seen footage, audio tapes, personal photos, and most importantly, an interview with the legend herself in present day.

Much of Tina’s tumultuous and fascinating life was revealed in her 1986 autobiography I, Tina; from her difficult childhood picking cotton with her family in Tennessee and being abandoned by her mother, to her incredible rise to fame alongside partner in life and music, Ike Turner (who she would later reveal was abusive and heavily addicted to cocaine during their marriage, prompting her to file for divorce).

By the looks of the trailer above, Tina has the makings of a brilliant tribute to one of music’s most electric performers, so make sure you catch it when it premieres on HBO and HBO Max on March 27. And now, Cher and Tina reminding us of a time when musicians actually sang live on air:
