Vans’ Skate Space 198 is an NYC skater’s oasis.

First opening its doors to the skateboarding community back in the Covid-ripe time of January of 2020, it went on a brief pandemic-induced hiatus—but it’s back with a vengeance and a block party.

To celebrate Skate Space 198’s reopening, Vans Skateboarding will be throwing a block party on October 1, showing love to the best of NY skateboarding; from Unity/There to Labor and KCDC skate shops, to Alltimers Skateboards, Bronze 56k, and more.

October 1st’s kick-off party will have 10 hours of open skate, DJ sets from Vans Skateboarding friends and fam like John Cardiel, Ben Kadow, Rory Milanes, DeDe Lovelace, and Alex Dondero, plus appearances from Vans team members like Beatrice Domond, Dick Rizzo, and Justin Henry.

20% of all sales from food and drinks stands on the day will be going to the Vans’ Checkerboard Fund and Stoked Mentoring to aid Skate Space 198’s winter skate programming, and make sure you stick around to the later hours because Alltimers Skateboards will be premiering their latest video, You Deserve It. You know what else you deserve? Quartersnacks event ‘The Hangover,’ the next morning—a brunch-style event at Bushwick’s Vacations.

Vans Skate Space 198 is located at 198 Randolph Street in Brooklyn, New York, a six-minute walk from the L train’s Jefferson Avenue stop. The block party will run from midday to 10:00 PM on October 1. For more info on Vans Skate Space 198 head here, and we’ll see you at the block party.
