Rejoice! The NSW Government is fucking off those stupid lockout laws!
Starting next year, Sydney’s CBD and Oxford street will return to normal and all will be well once more. The lockout will, however, remain in place in Kings Cross, which is a shame because that’s such a gorgeous neck of the woods on any given night. I blame the navy.
On January 14 2020, the 1:30 am last entry law for all licensed venues in the Sydney CBD and Oxford Street will come to an end. There will be an extension on last drinks by 30 minutes at venues with ‘good records,’ and restrictions on serving cocktails, shots and drinks in glass after midnight will be removed.
Bottle shop opening hours across NSW will be extended until midnight from Monday to Saturday, with an 11 pm closing time on Sunday, and small bar patron capacity will be increased from 100 to 120 across NSW.
Be joyful! Be cock-a-hoop! But don’t do anything stupid—they’re gagging to put the laws back in place and redirect business toward their own interests.
