Solidarity at Moonlight Beach

On June 3rd, hundreds of surfers arrived on Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, California, for the ‘Paddle Out for Unity in Solidarity with Black Lives Matter’.

There they spelled out the word ‘unity’ with their surfboards and then paddled out to honor George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and the others who have lost their lives to police brutality and systemic racism in America. The event was organised by Textured Waves, Kindhumans, Changing Tides Foundation, and Sal Masekela, a spokesman for underrepresented groups within the surf community. Watch the video above, and let’s see more Black people in the lineup and zero racists dickheads in the water.
