Parquet Courts new album Sympathy for Life is on the way, and they’ve just released the single ‘Black Widow Spider’.
Great song, love the theme (the torment of the succubus), but for my money, it’s all about the video, which is made of plasticine. Directed by Shayne Ehman, the clip for ‘Black Widow Spider’ tells the story of the aforementioned succubus (or, to be less dramatic, the ex our protagonist can’t stop thinking about), with the help of a little blue plasticine man with a little plasticine beret. The Parquet Courts—rendered in plasticine and looking like Gumby’s mates—rage on and the background and… Just watch the video. It’s rad.
Sympathy for Life is out on October 22, and the band plans to tour the album GLOBALLY starting in February next year. Click here for dates and details.
