It’s a good day to be a White Stripes fan.
Third Man Records has just announced the release of Striped: The Story of the White Stripes, a new podcast series dedicated to all things Meg and Jack. Hosted by music journo Sean Cannon, the podcast will take listeners back to Jack’s humble beginnings breaking sound barriers in the attic, plus two decades worth of White Stripes stories, courtesy of friends, family, and fans, and interviews with members of the MC5, Pavement, The Raconteurs, The Detroit Cobras, The Dirtbombs, The Soledad Brothers and more.
Striped is Third Man Record’s first dabble in podcasting since Jack White founded the independent record label, performance space, studio, and pressing plant back in 2001. In an interview last year with Monster Children, White said, ‘Third Man is an incredible creative paradise for me and everyone else involved. Over the years we’ve added every single thing I can think of that I would want to do if I was visiting this building from out of town. Now that we have a Detroit location with a pressing plant in it, it is just unbelievable. It’s too much really.’
Give the first two episodes of Striped: The Story of the White Stripes a listen below, then go read our rare interview with White, where he reveals he most hated sound and gives us the scoop on that track with Jay Z that never saw the light of day.
