Converse CONS x Monster Children

Street Cats

Brief

The Converse CONS skate team is full of creative talent. Several of their team riders are amazing photographers and artists. Converse was looking to highlight some of these creative pursuits, while also promoting Alexis Sablone’s signature colorway shoe model.

The Work

Professional skateboarders are typically known for one thing and one thing only: their skateboarding. While many are also highly skilled creatives, their creative pursuits are often overlooked or disregarded as a ‘secondary’ talent. Monster Children wanted to celebrate the photographic talents of the Converse skate team by putting their art at the forefront of an activation and campaign. The skaters wouldn’t be thought of as mere “skaters”. Instead, we would focus entirely on their photography and art by presenting their work to the world in a fresh way. We concepted “Street Cats” — a zine and bi-coastal photo/art show featuring the work of select Converse team riders that incorporates illustrations and art direction by Alexis Sablone. The zine was featured in every North American copy of Monster Children magazine.
