Entertainment’s Biggest Potheads

As the legalisation of weed continues to spread across America, more and more people are happily declaring their love for the green—especially celebrities.

Hollywood is full of musicians, actors and artists who, like us common folk, enjoy nothing more than a relaxing joint at the end of the day. But while most enjoy the occasionally puff (or at least try to look like they do, Elon musk), many potheads in the entertainment world have been smoking the green for years, advocating its benefits, and keeping the industry alive with their personal consumption. Here are the 5 biggest smokers from the entertainment industry.

Willie Nelson

The poster boy for marijuana throughout the 60s and 70s, Willie Nelson and weed go hand in hand like the other American favourite, peanut butter and jelly. The country music legend has probably smoked more than any living person, telling Rolling Stone he’s high ‘pretty much all the time.’ Unfortunately, the 87-year-old has had to stop smoking due to health concerns, but that doesn’t mean he’s quit the green, with Nelson still happily consuming weed through other methods.

Weed claim to fame: Nelson and fellow smoker Snoop Dogg once had a smoke off in Amsterdam. When a confident Snoop arrived armed with just a blunt he soon realised he’d met his smoking match when Nelson produced a joint, vape pen and pipe and rotated between the three. Nelson admitted he made Snoop ‘crawl away,’ something the rapper has also confessed.

Snoop Dogg

Speaking of Snoop Dogg, he’s another famous face with a lengthy history with weed. Like Nelson, Snoop has been a long time advocate of Maryjane and has his own branded weed line, Leafs By Snoop. His lyrics often reference his love of smoking (he’s got a song called ‘Smoke The Weed’) and he’s rarely seen without a fat joint hanging from the side of his mouth. Snoop’s also one of the few people to have smoked in the White House.

Weed claim to fame: In a Reddit AMA, Snoop declared he smokes 81 blunts a day, which is 80 more than I can handle.

RiRi is a low-key member of the weed-smoking hall of fame. The pop superstar and beauty mogul has never shied away from the herb, and has not only been photographed numerous times smoking and hanging with other weed legends, but she often wears weed-related clothing and has posted multiple pics of herself puffing on socials. While she’s calmed down over the last few years, Rihanna deserves recognition for being one of Hollywood’s biggest stoners.

Weed claim to fame: One time she rented an entire floor of a hotel so she could smoke without disturbing the other guests. Another time she rolled a blunt on top of her bodyguard’s bald head at Coachella in 2012. A true inspiration.

Seth Rogen

Few people have enjoyed isolation as much as Seth Rogan. The Canadian actor made a career out of the ‘lovable stoner’ persona he honed in comedy classics Knocked Up and Pineapple Express, and he’s been regularly sharing his love of the green stuff with fans via Instagram since it started. He regularly posts clips that showcase his pottery work, and he’s even provided a joint rolling tutorial for those who struggle with the fine art. An unashamed lover of marijuana, Rogen is his generation’s one-man Cheech & Chong.

Weed claim to fame: Rogen is the inventor of the cross joint, which as the name implies, is two joints shaped like a cross.

Wiz Khalifa

The heir to Snoop’s weed throne, Wiz Khalifa is another rapper with a large appetite for the green. Like Snoop and Willie, Wiz is also involved in the weed business, going into partnership with Colorado-based RiverRock Cannabis to endorse a number of products, including his own line of rolling papers and weed strain known as ‘Khalifa Kush’. If that doesn’t convince you of his smoking credentials, Wiz also names many of his albums and songs after cannabis, including ‘Still Blazin,’ ‘So High’ and ‘Mary 3X.’ Oh yeah, and he also calls his house ‘The Bakery.’

Weed claim to fame: Wiz spends over $10,000 a month on weed, something that was proven to be true when he took a lie detector test for Vanity Fair.
