SIERRA SKINNER

ABOUT:

My name is Sierra Skinner. I grew up in a staunchly religious bubble in a suburb just outside of Los Angeles, bored out of my mind most of the time. As such, I got quite a late start to figuring out what I like and who my people are, which has prompted a probably excessive appreciation for it all now that I have it somewhat figured out.

Presently at twenty three, I find myself living and lurking happily in Echo Park. My last five jobs have all been personality hires, so I couldn’t quite tell you what my qualifications are or if I even have any beyond my bright-eyed willingness to do whatever the fuck anybody asks of me. Who says people pleasing tendencies don’t pay off!!

I enjoy loud music and disturbing art and fostering community in every way possible. I am a notorious people person and a terminal optimist. I am known around town for hugging too tight and smiling too big. I was once called a curly haired bitch at a party and all my friends around me laughed it off because according to them I couldn’t truly be a bitch even if I tried. I believe in friendship the way I was supposed to believe in God. I started taking pictures to compensate for my poor memory, so I can never forget the faces of the people I’ve loved. I’ve always had an almost voyeuristic reverence for artists, the way their brains work and how their presence alters the collective consciousness. Most of my writing is an attempt to make sense of this or an excuse to get away with ridiculous shit and call it official business.

The only thing I ever got in trouble for in school was talking too much. Now, I piss off editors by exceeding word limits. Some things never change.
