Under Cat Power’s Spell at Vivid Sydney

Over two decades ago, a young Chan Marshall created the unforgettable album, Moon Pix.

Along with the help of lauded band The Dirty Three, the artist known as Cat Power created a stunning collection of songs that to many, has been a quiet friend in the background of important moments throughout life. A mark in time. Played on repeat.

Last night, in a nod to the anniversary of the record’s release, Cat Power took to Sydney Opera House’s Concert Hall as part of Vivid LIVE. From start to finish, she didn’t disappoint. Flanked by Australian musician Ned Collette, the acclaimed Jim White on drums and Mick Turner on guitar, the performance was a moving reunion of the original members of the recording. Her ethereal voice filled the outer reaches of the magnificent Sydney Opera House, as before her the crowd sat enthralled by the magic she’s weaved through their lives with her music.
