Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen Made a Podcast

Barack and The Boss are teaming up for new podcast Renegades: Born in the USA.

The eight-episode series is the second podcast from the Obama’s Higher Ground production company, and will feature intimate conversations between two very different icons about ‘race, fatherhood, marriage, and the future of America.’

The partnership between a rock ‘n’ roll legend and a former US president might sound a little left of centre, but as it turns out, the pair have actually been pals since they met back in 2008.

‘On the surface, Bruce and I don’t have a lot in common,’ Obama said. ‘But over the years, what we’ve found is that we’ve got a shared sensibility. About work, about family and about America. In our own ways, Bruce and I have been on parallel journeys trying to understand this country that’s given us both so much. Trying to chronicle the stories of its people. Looking for a way to connect our own individual searches for meaning and truth and community with the larger story of America.’

As you can see in the trailer, Bruce noodles on the guitar a bit, Obama gives us laid-back dad vibes, and the conversation meanders from hometowns, to their fathers, and more. The first two episodes are out now, so head to Spotify to check out Renegades: Born in the USA.
