You Missed It: Red Bull’s Now Day Premiere

Last night we were blessed with the premiere of Red Bull’sNow Days at Balter Taproom.

I say blessed because to see this film, the calibre of surfing, and even just the fact that a brand like Red Bull have invested this much into its release speaks volumes about where women’s surfing is sitting right now. This shit just never would have happened ten years ago. An all female surf film paraded around the world with proper premieres and budgets? In our dreams. To think a young girl will see this as the normal is just about the coolest fucking concept on the planet. Molly, Caity, Sierra, Caroline, Erin and Sky should be so proud.

After lots of ooohs and aaahs responding to the big screen, we were treated to a panel hosted by Jessie Starling talking shop on all things boss women in sport. The Monster Children team flew up from Sydney to join in and ensure the beers were the right temperature and consistency (they were). With the WSL circus descending onto our great golden coastline, last night set the precedent of what is to come. Whether that’s speaking to the wider envelope pushing of women’s sport within this generation featured in the film, or the amount of beers about to be consumed by the wozzle, I’ll leave for you to figure out.

Now Days is available worldwide from May 1, watch it on Red Bull TV and Red Bull Surf’s Youtube Channel.
