What’s Good, Melbourne?
Inundated by flyers and ‘wyd 2nite’ texts every week, it’s hard to know what to do and where to go in your city.
I mean, it’s very easy to know - just go where everyone else is going, but sometimes you don’t want to see Charli XCX from the cheap seats, or spend another late night at Cha Cha’s watching aging Silverlake creative directors hit on girls with fake ID’s. Sometimes you want to do something fun, different, and stimulating. Every city has more than you think it does, you just have to look, or ask someone who knows. We asked our writer/contributor Josh Sabini what he’ll be up to this week in Melbourne, here’s what he came back with (if you see him there, buy him a root beer).
Got some shit going on in your city? Send us the flyer and we’ll see about it. editorial@monsterchildren.com
Keanu Nelson, Thursday @ The Night Cat
Do you like to dance? Nah? How about sway? Perfect. There’s your night. Keanu Nelson provides delicious synth sounds and things to drink something sweet to.
Wet Kiss, Friday @ The Curtain
Wet Kiss is perfect music for leaving a freshly-trashed hotel room and making out in public. Do both, then come to The Curtain and do it again.
FW: I Love You, Saturday @ MOM Gallery
Featuring work by Maggie Brink, Milly James, Harry McEvoy, and Piazza Spreadborough, and curated by Robyn Daly, go look at something beautiful and feel some love.
Milly Strange, Saturday @ Shotkickers
Milly Strange makes me want to pop the collar on my leather jacket, slam a shot of whiskey, walk in on someone casting a spell in the bathroom, stumble out of the bar, pull my motorcycle around and drive off into the dark night of a Twin Peaks episode. What more can I say? What more do you need?
Dogworld, Saturday @ The Evelyn
Reminding me a bit of the slap-around strumming of Jehu, Dogworld is where you can get sweaty this Saturday.
