What We Are Listening To: MC’s NYC Office #20

What a fucking week it was.

As we put together our next print issue (that’s right, bitch, it’s coming harder than Donald Trump cums whenever anyone says his name), I find more and more shit that I want to shove into it’s beautiful pages. Last week, three incredible artists released albums. Winter, Water From Your Eyes, and Mac Demarco. What a fucking beautiful week in my life. Naturally, then, this playlist is comprised mostly of those three albums and peppered with dashes of little here and there’s that are always on my rotation but especially lately. For example, Local Jerk, a very danceable bit of groove from New York City to set the palate toward happiness and joy for the delicious bites of musical nutrients to come. Additionally, 'Sexy Boy,’ by Air, a song which never fails to make me melt and fawn over the allure of homoeroticism that bleeds out of my heterosexual positioning, particularly when that gentle-yet-spry synth solo kicks in - a synth solo with as much casual gravity as ‘Speed of Sound’ by Chris Bell; both of which are thrown out with such perfection that they may as well be winking at me.

There is, admittedly, a bleak period in the playlist. Mac’s chunk is a little bit of a sad time, but then, it’s a sad album, all of which you can hear about in our video interview available on the site now. I highly recommend giving it a go as it is a very good accompaniment to an album that was written in an exceedingly short burst and sounds like the first well-developed bit of backwards self reflection from an artist who has only ever looked down at the now or forward at the future.

It is a good week in music.
