Watch: ‘Grit’, a DIY skateboarding Series Featuring Trung Nguyen

presented by

Monster Children in partnership with our friends at G-Shock are proud to present our new series, Grit.

Skateboarding is all about creativity and style. How you do a trick and how you look doing it is as important as the trick you’re doing, and as important as the spot you’re doing it on. Particularly in New York City, the spots themselves can be a statement in your skating - a point of pride and a curated example of that skater’s individuality. Many skaters, like our local favorite featured in the series, Trung Nguyen, believes strongly in the art of the spot. So much so that, rather than trample the beaten path of skaters past, Trung prefers to put in the work to make previously un-hittable spots, skatable for the first time.

Bondo, broom, and G-Shock GAV01A-8A on hand, come hang with Trung as he gets into the nitty gritty of New York’s DIY skateboarding scene.

Watch episode one, here.

The GAV01 is a bold reinterpretation of G-SHOCK’s toughness, combining sharp, organic design elements with a full-screen LCD and metallic dial, showcasing the brand’s ongoing innovation. Its standout feature is the Shock Release Hand, a minute hand held magnetically to absorb impacts, allowing for both durability and greater design flexibility. For more information go here.
