THE GOOD TRIP: Megan Rugani

We’re hitting the road with our friends at goodbrands—purveyors of damn good weed—this summer to feature some of our favorite creative people around California and throw a few epic parties. Come hang, be in good company, and see what these cities are all about. Next up: Oakland with Megan Rugani of Maiden Voyage Jewelry.

Megan Rugani is an honest-to-god, hard working bad-ass. Inspired by motorcycles, rock n roll, and 60’s & 70’s counterculture, Rugani creates handcrafted jewelry under the name Maiden Voyage. From her original designs to her intricate engravings, Megan’s work merges symbols and materials that are steeped in her ideals and influences.

“I’m definitely not the first person in my family to work with their hands. But I am the first person to be working for themselves. I always knew I wanted to be an artist. My hands were always moving.”

“I don’t believe in determinism. I don’t believe that people are born a certain way. I don’t think people are born artists or born musicians or born mathematicians.”

“I kind of just took a leap of faith, even though it was terrifying not having any structure. But I have order in my chaos.”
