Stuff You Need

With the season change well and truly underway, it’s about time to treat yourself to some new gear.

Perhaps you’re in the Northern Hemisphere stripping off your layers and remembering what the sun feels like or maybe you’re in the Southern Hemisphere hoping the rain will actually fuck off. Either way, we hope you’re having fun. Here’s some stuff we’ve had our eye on that might just make life a little sweeter in the process.

CURREN CAPLES VANS PRO MODEL

One of our favourite skate fellas finally gets his flowers with his first signature pro model shoe. Available in three colourways and designed for long days slamming the pavement, these things ooze the understated style of the man himself while still being uniquely Vans. We’ve got a red pair and they’re already our favourite thing below the waist.

P.A.M. (PERKS AND MINI) CAPS

P.A.M. (PERKS AND MINI) are a Melbourne based brand that have been doing very fun things since they started back in 2000 but their caps are something that have well and truly caught our attention. It’s so hard to find the perfect hat, but I bought one of these the other day and now sleep in it. People are starting to catch on because most of their caps sell out so don’t say we didn’t warn you.

FORMER X THE HUNT COLLAB COLLECTION

Coming in hot as the best collab of the year so far, we have FORMER and Hunt NYC teaming up for their second limited edition collection. Two of our favourite brands who are always four steps ahead of everyone else in what’s cool. The whole range is top tier but we’d have to say the lighter is our pick. Never restocked so get it while you can.

NEEDLES JP

This little Japanese brand has been on our radar for a while but we only recently let ourselves splurge on the track jacket and let me tell you I am immediately cooler for it. Featuring the Papillon butterfly that screams ‘if you know you know’, incredible colourways and that Japanese touch. If there is one country that can wholeheartedly claim to be the most stylish on the planet, it is Japan. This brand has been spotted numerous times on all the fashion greats including the hottest man on the planet A$AP Rocky - do we need to say more?

YETI RAMBLER BOWLS

Hold the cold and keep the heat with Yeti’s latest product that you never even knew you needed. Double insulated walls like the rest of their range, these bowls come with an airtight lid and a range of sizes that can be stacked within each other. Super handy for those who like to maximise their outside time.

PASS~PORT AUSTRALIAN MANUFACTURED COLLECTION

Cut and sewn in Marrickville, the latest collection of Australian Manufactured clothing by Pass~Port is a testament to a brand that continues to support the local industry. Featuring timeless wardrobe essentials, durable denim, Australian lambswool essentials and nifty accessories. Pass~Port is a favourite for a reason!

MAKR EYEWEAR SLEEVE

Sguard those expensive pieces of retina protectors with an eyewear sleeve by Makr. Made in the USA from premium leather/ suede in an array of colours to suit your style. If I saw someone put their sunnies into one of these sleeves instead of simply throwing them in their bag I would immediately think they have their shit together.

TALL TALES’ BY MARK PRITCHARD & THOM YORKE

If there’s a record you need to add to your collection let it be the latest collaborative album by Mark Pritchard and Thom Yorke with artwork by Australian artist Jonathon Zawada - Tall Tales. I mean honestly anything done by even one of these guys is impressive so you best believe this collaboration is fucking phenomenal. Zawada also produced a feature length-film accompanying the album, a visual spectacle for each song. Tall Tales is being touted as ‘a fairytale for the modern world’ as it tackles themes of existential dread in true Pritchard and Yorke fashion. Take us away.

JOSH SABINI’S ‘PIGEON ENVY’ ZINE

For three months, our favourite contributing editor Josh Sabini followed pigeons around the city with his camera to bless us with a 16-page zine composed completely of photographs of pigeons appropriately named Pigeon Envy. This is actually the only thing you need. No notes.
