Watch: Salad Days of Skateboarding in Lahore

Salad Days of Skateboarding is a non-profit organization helmed by Nestor Judkins and a board (get it?) of skaters and passionate folks who believe in spreading the good word of skating throughout the world.

They establish a connection with a reputable skater in an underdeveloped nation to whom they send boards, shoes, wheels etc for that reputable individual to distribute to the locals. After a while, the community is primed and stocked and Salad Days goes down to the country themselves to bring supplies, put on school-yard demos, host skate school, and work with local governments to allocate funds for community skateparks.

The work they do is humble and sincere and extremely important. Salad Days bring a useless wooden toy, but through that useless wooden toy, they provide a vessel through which underprivileged communities can find joy and creativity and a sense of self. They bring skateboarding and all of its gifts which we’ve been lucky enough to enjoy with ease out here in the western world.

Most recently, they went to Lahore, Pakistan on a mission to get a skatepark built and found great success. Check the documentary above to see for yourself, and check out saladdaysforskateboarding.org for info on how to get off your ass and do something.
