On Tour With Lowertown

This one is at the White Schoolhouse but Dale has fixed his sights on Sean and Olive. He loves to watch her dance and hype her up! A man of the people.

I like a weirdo every now and then.

Not like the weirdo who wraps himself in a carpet and lies around the streets of Manhattan trying to get people to step on him for his own sexual gratification - not a pervy weirdo - more like a weirdo who is committed to the bit. Lowertown - the band from New York City, commit to a bit. As for their stuffed animal friend, Dale, that freak needs to be put on a leash. That is one weird sick fuck. Why they take him on tour? I have no idea. We asked if they’d shoot a disposable camera, but in classic retro fashion, they opted for a digicam instead. No complaints, apart from that fucking Dale. Why is he in there? He doesn’t even play an instrument. Anyway, yeah, love a weirdo.

Dale on Dale Street. His first time in the Great Plains. He was very active in the Shrine Basement which he loved because it made him feel like he was in Wild at Heart, one of his favorite David Lynch movies.

Dale felt especially glam in the green room of The Roxy in LA. Hair by Immanuel, our drummer/in house hair stylist, did him RIGHT. He performed his heart out right behind Avsha (his favorite spot on stage), and acted a bit of a fool at the Rainbow Bar and Grill. He just loves Lemmy Kilmister.

Dale in his dedicated seat in the van. As he is a boy of old world ideals, he believes that on travel days he must dress up, and so today he his wearing his favorite tie and is waiting for a bathroom break. He sits next to Olive on the rides because he finds comfort in family.

Today Sean has the back row which means the boys can swap secrets. We tried to capture the magic, but they’re a little shy about their deepest thoughts.

Dale loves to get ready for Avsha and Liv. He talks through the stage game plan, choreography, and band color themes. He’s very impatient when he’s done with his makeup and he has to wait for us. Oh well, we can’t all stun with a touch of starch in the hair…

After the show is over and it’s time to pack the car, Dale waits and watches over us. He loves to be the last in the car so we set him in his favorite spot, the edge of the stage, to oversee the loading out process and make sure we don’t miss a thing.

Dale and his friend. He’s also been very close to the Sinclair Dinosaur, and when he heard that someone had been stealing them, he was livid. This is him and his friend just outside Boise, Idaho. They go way back.

Olive and Dale in Pendleton, Oregon, the home of the legendary coats. Dale was obsessed with this yellow car and begged Liv to buy him one. We told him that he would need to get straight A’s for the rest of the year and MAYBE we can talk about it.

Dale onstage at the White Schoolhouse in Lawrence, Kansas. You can tell by the joy in Avsha and Dale’s faces that they just enjoyed a beautiful meal of Kansas City Barbecue in the backyard. This was also one of Dale’s favorite venues, he loves it punk and humid!

Dale, Hair by Immanuel, and Olive are preparing for their Milwaukee show. Dale felt out of place because Avsha and Olive decided to perform as their alter egos Chet Roxton and Vicki and didn’t even let Dale go as his. He discovered the existence of pickled eggs from the Mother’s Day brunch the venue had offered from earlier that day and he found the idea of pickled eggs quite preposterous.

Dale with his signature spiked hair and Ugly Duckling Union Uniform alongside Olive and her own signature Ugly Duckling arm tag.

Dale catching a quick good luck smooch before the show. He was a bit anxious that day.

Dale at his final show, in tears, having his hair worked on by Avsha. The greenroom at the Bowery Ballroom was what made him feel like he made it. He was the rockstar he always wanted to be. He’s hoping this isn’t his only tour.

Dale being a huge Nirvana fan made it a point to stop by Linda’s tavern in Seattle, the last known place Kurt Cobain had a drink. He wouldn’t stop singing Very Ape in the car even when Avsha was so annoyed. Though after a few hours, they were harmonizing like The Carpenters. They have that kind of bond.

Avsha, Olive, Dale, and Truman Sinclair, our Florida support and brother, standing outside Orpheum in Tampa, Florida, the final show of the Florida leg. They were hot, thirsty, exhausted, but fueled by the beauty of that beautiful state and the beautiful Everglades.
