Disposable: Momma

Portraits be Elena Saviano

Momma - fronted by Etta Friedman (left) and Allegra Weingarten (right), along with Preston Fulks on drums and Aron Kobayashi Ritch on bass - are, very deservedly, one of our favourite bands.

They write music that charms, inspires, and very unabashedly cuts through the bullshit of the indie/rock genre to get at the emotional point. Their determined rumblings are both striking and extremely listenable - the sort of music you find yourself humming on the train, sending to your friends, and jumping to in your bedroom. We gave them a disposable camera to shoot around with at Kilby Block Party, a festival that Momma (along with most of our favourite bands) played last weekend, and they didn’t disappoint. Their shots came out candid, smoky, and made us feel like we were part of the gang, venturing out with them into another lovely, lost weekend.
