The premiere Denmarkian audiowear company AIAIAI (that’s ‘aye aye aye,’ captain) has gone and done a very cool collaboration with cult record label Ninja Tune.
Ninja Tune, of course, is the label that brought you Hiatus Kaiyote, Sampa The Great, Kelis, Little Dragon, and Run The Jewels among others, and this game-changing thing—or dare we say record-breaking thing, ba-dum-chh—is the TMA-2 Ninja Tune Edition headphones, an exciting lil’ experiment in sustainability, made in part from smashed-up and recycled vinyl records.
The headphones’ speaker units are the part that’s made of recycled vinyl, which kinda makes you wonder what else we could recycle into things. According to the press release, the limited-edition headphones have a ‘customised, detailed and rich sound representation based on AIAIAI’s Bio-Cellulose S05 drivers, and come with the comfortable choice of both on-ear and over-ear vegan leather cushions.’ Vegan cushions! That sounds very good. It’s worth noting that AIAIAI is a very cool company in that it has a longstanding commitment to making very good products that last; anyone who’s owned their headphones knows you never need to buy a new pair of headphones after you get these ones.
