Step Inside The Growlers’ Beach Goth Shrine

A series of secret shows went down at our very own 1700 Naud recently, with bands Starcrawler, Cowgirl Clue, Puzzle, Neo Globs and The Mattson 2 taking to the stage as a prelude to upcoming Beach Goth festival.

The venue transformed into a shrine dedicated to all things The Growlers, covered in costumes and props from past shows, exclusive merch, ticket giveaways, a photo show by the band’s documentarian Taylor Bonin, and their own decorated 1977 Lincoln parked right outside. Who in their right minds could’ve predicted a drag show, Chinese lion dancers bursting out of nowhere, a marionette act opening for Puzzle and Neo Globs, or a woman jumping on top of the bar and swallowing a sword?

But if you’re acquainted even in the slightest with The Growlers, you know to expect the unexpected, and to strap yourselves in for the wild ride they’re sure to take you on. They’ll be stepping it up a notch this Sunday at Beach Goth festival, which they’ll be headlining and curating at LA’s Historic Park—right down the street from 1700 Naud, where we’re still recovering. Come check out the madness that was The Growlers at 1700 Naud and listen to the playlist they’ve curated over on our Apple Music page to get you hyped ahead of the festival, below.
