Summer’s over and your fully stocked shoe closet (or drawer, or floor, or hallway) is likely running low.
Lucky for you, Vans has been digging deep this 2017 and the holiday season is no different: they’re bringing back their Pro Skate ArcAd and crossbreeding them with another industry stalwart, Santa Cruz. It’s easy to commence eye-rolling when two of skateboarding’s classic brands team together at what could be a slapdash grab for holiday cash, but let’s not forget who we’re dealing with. Not ones to half-ass anything, Vans solicited the talents of celebrated Japanese artist/designer Taka Hayashi and hooked up their classic Old Skool and Chukka Boots with some Santa Cruz flair, imbuing the side stripes and soles with their slogan “Skateboarding is Not a Crime” and the tongues with their first logo. Toss in Hayashi’s original skull artwork, his first skateboarding collaboration, and you’ve got something Vans hasn’t made before, a far cry from a flash-fried holiday exclusive. They come in leather and suede, in prestigious Old Rose and Oatmeal color tones, and there’s only 600 made: all the workings of a great holiday offering for you or yours, so move quick.
