When it comes to festival locations, they don’t come much quainter than Berry on the South Coast NSW.
What it might lack in size and variety, Fairgrounds Festival more than makes up in charm and careful curation. In its third year, this year’s Fairgrounds is set to be the best on record, with the lineup and extra-curricular activities broadening. Bands wise, it’s a perfect line up for a festival that largely involves cruising around the Berry showgrounds with the obligatory Young Henry’s in hand, dabbling in a little local produce, and sitting on the grass in the sun and taking it all in. Baltimore’s finest Future Islands, Kiwi folk soon-to-be-megastar Marlon Williams, and, perhaps the most fitting band you could think of to play the festival, The Shins.
Asides from the stacked line up, there’s also heaps of other stuff to do, like gorging at the Paperbark long-table (make a booking), flicking through first presses at the record fair, hell, there’s even a child minding service so you can ditch the rugrats and go hit the sauce.
