Mike Baird Resigns

Everyone under the age of 40 in Sydney rejoices.

Mike Baird, the NSW Premier and sole destroyer of Sydney nightlife and culture has announced his retirement from politics effective next week.

“Serving as premier of NSW has been a tremendous honour, but I have made clear from the beginning that I was in politics to make a difference, and then move on. After 10 years in public life, this moment for me has arrived,” he said in a statement.

Thank you, good riddance, and good night Mr Baird. But please don’t worry about old Mike, we’re sure his pals in the finance sector will offer him a cushy job with a hefty pay packet real soon. They’re good like that.

Oh, and it looks like the Keep Sydney Open rally this Saturday in Kings Cross suddenly became one hell of a victory party. Onwards and upwards.
