A Black Mountain album was my first ever paycheck in a long-winded chain of unpaid internships. My boss’ boss handed me a stack of CD’s and said, “If you’re going to be working with him, you’ll need something in return”, and thus began my love for Wilderness Heart. Between Amber Webber and Stephen McBean’s vocals it’s impossible to get bored; even now, eleven years after their self-titled debut, IV is just as refreshing and powerful as ever. The new album introduces synthesizer and…is that accordion? Skeptical though I was, they’ve pulled it off; congrats guys and gal you’ve got a gem here.
