MC X Nixon Zine: Peninsula South

We followed father and son duo Herbie and Nathan Fletcher down to Baja, Mexico, with filmmaker Riley Blakeway to make a short film entitled Peninsula South.

In it, director Riley Blakeway captures Herbie’s pioneering spirit and the close-knit relationship he has built with his son Nathan as they set out on an expedition they’ve not made together in over twenty years, reigniting both their love for Baja and their deep appreciation for one another. Photographer Cole Barash joined Riley and the Fletchers to document the making of the film, with his images being published in an exclusive zine of the same name, available only to our subscribers and at selected Nixon retail outlets. Enjoy Peninsula South, and take a look at some selects from the zine below while you wait for it in the mail along with our upcoming 50th issue. Thanks Nixon, the Fletchers, and the sunny skies of Baja.

“What Nathan and Herb thought of their recent trip to Baja to reclaim their not so distant past became something much more than reliving the fun of the Fletcher Cabo Classic or the many outrageous experiences the two shared from the all the family trips to the Cape.” — Dibi Fletcher

“Being here with my dad…it makes me appreciate the fact that my dad went out of his way…to give us those experiences and I would have to say I carry that into my life and try and want to do that with my kids… Fulfilling the journey, and fun and experience. That’s what life is all about…to carry that on and give that to another Fletcher.” — Nathan Fletcher

“Traveling with Nathan has been a joy to my life and he’s learned how to travel and he was always happy and was always there cause he wanted to go, cause if you bitch, you don’t go.” — Herbie Fletcher

Here’s a few of Cole’s outtakes… just because.
