1700 Naud Just Turned 1!

It’s been a huge year for our DTLA space, 1700 Naud.

To reflect on our first year of existence, we decided to quantify the hangovers, extra wrinkles, hemorrhoids, bloody noses, and incredible memories and create a list of our favourite shows. Here’s what we managed to dig up.

365 days open.

43 events.

25,000 cans of PBR consumed (same number of tacos eaten).

Not that many bottles of water drunk.

10,750 guests.

10+ bands, including Drugdealer, Starcrawler, The Mattson 2, Randy Randall, Black Paw, Keen, Blanco Niño, DMTina and the Bumps.

5 murals by Mark GonzalesRobbie Simon, Allison Bamcat, Gaijin and LAND.

Countless events with our favourite brands, including Converse, Pabst Blue Ribbon, HUF, JanSport, Stumptown, Old Pal, HUF, The Hundreds, Vissla, GIRL and more, PLUS film and album releases, book launches, Q&A’s, fundraisers, film screenings, art shows, birthday parties, dinner parties, Monster Children issue launch parties, and so much more.

1 person puked blood in a trash can and kept partying.

3 people puked in our shower.

1 year-long hangover.

JanSport x Mark Gonzales

To celebrate the JanSport x Mark Gonzales collection and the opening of our brand new LA space, we threw a little party. Mark came out from NYC, unveiled his massive mural, displayed the original artwork from the collab, and signed a bunch of limited edition ‘Group Hug’ prints for everyone who rolled through. And of course, Nose Pick Poetry was screening all night, accompanied by select photos from Zander Taketomo.

Old Pal

Our favourite Texans, LAND, rolled through town and treated the heaving masses to their weed, free Madre Mezcal drinks, free Pabst (as always), and enough Pizzanista! to keep the high and hungry crowd happy. We had groove lords Reverberation Radio on the decks, LA band Blanco Niño, and an insane performance from Drugdealer to close out the night. It took us a while to recover from this one.

Louie Lopez – Lightbox

We partnered with Converse CONS to make a short film with Louie Lopez, and the visuals were so epic we couldn’t limit them to the interwebs.

Beach Goth – The Growlers

For this event, we transformed into a shrine dedicated to all things The Growlers: costumes and props from past shows; exclusive merch; ticket giveaways; a photo show by the band’s documentarian, Taylor Bonin; and their decorated 1977 Lincoln parked right outside. Who in their right mind could’ve predicted a drag show, Chinese lion dancers, a marionette act opening for Puzzle and Neo Globs, or a woman jumping on top of the bar to swallow a sword? Not us. Starcrawler, Cowgirl Clue, Puzzle, Neo Globs and The Mattson 2 provided the tunes for quite possibly the biggest event to hit 1700 Naud to date.

Todd Francis and Porous Walker put an art show together at our LA space, 1700 Naud, and it was a huge success. The man-children proved that making jokes about farts, penises and sexual function can actually be turned into an adult job, and the huge crowds that turned out for their Aprils Fools-themed show couldn’t have been more grossed out or amused.

Girl x RED

Girl Skateboards and (RED) partnered up for World AIDS Day to raise awareness and funds for (RED)’s fight to end AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa. We had the pleasure of hosting the event, where our walls were lined with a roster of internationally recognised artists’ (Kevin Lyons, Travis Millard, Craig Abell-Champion, Mark Gonzales, Thomas Campbell, Sasha Barr, and Andy Jenkins to name but a few) take on Girl’s iconic wooden OG doll.

Johanna Olk – Idle Youth

French artist Johanna Olk brought her incredible painting, illustration, tattoo, print, and sculptures to our space, and even gave a few lucky attendees her signature homemade stick and pokes. We might have been a few of those lucky attendees.

REAL x HUF High Ollie Contest

To celebrate Keith Hufnagel and Real’s 25-year relationship, they put together a show of Huf’s finest photos from over the years and released a limited-edition Huf X Real collab capsule. The night had all of the good stuff: free beer and tacos, a highest ollie contest, a raffle for some limited-edition boards and incredible photos on show.

Thanks to the thousands of people who’ve walked through our doors this year, stay tuned for more incredible shows and events to come!
