FOXY BUT DEAD: Barbara Bates. 1925–69

FOXY BUT DEAD: Barbara Bates. 1925–69

Hubba-hubba! Barbara Bates, where have you been all my life? Oh. You died in 1969. Sorry.

Barbara Bates was the American actress best known for her role as Phoebe in the 1950 movie All About Eve. Did you catch that one? It was good as fuck, son, check it out. Form 1945 to 1962 Barbara appeared in a ton of movies and TV shows. She had pretty good career, but in the mid 50s she began to suffer from depression, poor health, and erratic behavior, which pissed the studios off pretty quick. Jobs started falling through all over the place, and she became even more bummed out. In 1960 her husband was diagnosed with cancer, and although she stayed by his bedside, the strain was too much for her and she cut her wrists. She survived the suicide attempt and sort of bounced back, but when her husband finally succumbed to cancer in 1967 she spiraled into even deeper depression than before. In 1969 Barbara succeeded in killing herself, this time by carbon monoxide poisoning. Very sad.

Still–what a fox!

Here is one man that is not shy of a beer at sunrise. We may be three days late, but it's always beter late than never when you get an email from the Prince of Puerto Rico.
