Due to the enjoyment of capturing images and editing them, my endless boring hours after school are spent experimenting with a lumix panasonic DMX-FT2 (shit underwater box) and am in need of proving to mother that I can make great use of such technology with bigger and better things, and that investing in a NIKON 7000D would be a great investment for both her and I... This image came out of pure afternoon bordem and 10 second self fucking timer.. chyeah, gay as aids... I know.

If any one out there has ever heard of the trance group ITP, you will recognise the lyrics in this psychedelic painting on canvas "the planet is fine, the people are fucked". Inspired by trance, Chenko's paintings send your mind on a LSD trip, no shit. But in all seriousness, check his artwork out, have a deep look at the concepts he is portraying. Come on Monster Children, press that open button, save this shit, please consider putting it in the magazine!

ACTIVISM AND A CUP OF TEA

ACTIVISM AND A CUP OF TEA
Posted By AS FAR AS EYE CAN SEE Wed Aug 2011

ACTIVISM AND A CUP OF TEA. It's been six months since the devastating Christchurch earthquake in February and this week will mark a year since the city was first torn apart by powerful tremors. While much of the media focus has turned elsewhere, a group of Adelaide women continue to creatively agitate for community involvement and donations. The 22 women, known collectively as Multiply, took up crochet hooks to produce a gallery-size, giant eye artwork during SALA Festival. Comprising 534 squares and filling an entire shopfront window, the artwork As Far As Eye Can See neatly illustrates how individual action contributes to the bigger outcome.  Lorinda Curnow, the co-founder of the group, says the opportunity for grassroots action is ongoing. “We want people to know that they have the power to make a difference following a disaster like the Christchurch earthquake. And that their action – even six months after – is valuable and important. “So many Australians have a connection with people who are living or have lived in New Zealand that it makes the tragedy of the Christchurch earthquakes seem all the more closer to home. With such strong ties between the two countries; we can’t let their needs fade out of view.”  The women of Multiply feel strongly that rebuilding Christchurch is not just a bricks and mortar job. They say it’s about maintaining hope and creating spaces that support people to build a positive vision for the future. “We’re using the artwork to raise money for Gap Filler, a registered NZ charity, who are creatively bringing life back to Christchurch. They’re doing an incredible job, sustaining community spirit while the rebuilding commences. The empty spaces are being temporarily filled with art, performances, book exchanges and even an outdoor coconut bowling alley. “We’re saying to people, ‘you can also do something to help’… Whether you sponsor a crochet square in our online artwork, bid for the original piece, or start an action of your own. And we’d really love to see businesses and corporations getting involved. There are so many companies with New Zealand links.” The artwork is on display at Rodeo 162-168 Gilbert Street, Adelaide until Friday 28 October, and in Christchurch with Gap Filler during November. People can get involved with and follow the project through Facebook, Twitter and the website www.asfaraseyecansee.com
