What’s the weirdest customer experience you’ve had?
We’re located in the heart of Venice so there’s weird every day. I guess I’d say the time a customer fell in love with the t-shirt I was wearing (one of our custom t-shirts) and my vintage cowboy boots. We were the same size and I offered to order her a shirt and other boots but she wanted to wear them that night. She sweetly insisted and if she wasn’t so nice I would have said no but she literally bought the shirt right off my back and boots off my feet. Maybe not super weird but funny.
What are your 3 favorite things in the store?
I like stuff that helps tell our story. That’s what’s always in my mind for anything I buy for The Golden State.
1. Levi’s Vintage Clothing – a reproduced collection for men and women and Levi’s is the iconic California brand.
2. RAEN Optics – an independent eyewear brand based in Oceanside that’s always a perfect fit for us. You really can’t have a California store without some great sunglasses.
3. Alkemie Jewelry – all handmade out of Topanga and has this heirloom quality. I’m rarely without my hawk cuff and wolf-head ring.
PS: I chose these three because (you forced me to choose) and these are the items I live in every day!!
What’s the playlist going now?
Johnny Cash to Kendrick Lamarr
Where’s the best spot for lunch break?
Cerveteca, our pal Oscar’s place across the street (on Rose). He’s an LA kid like me and this food is the real deal. The La Puente backyard burger and a beer.
What should the store motto be?
Do it in California.
