Considering the bromance that exists between A$AP Rocky and Raf Simons, it’s not surprising that the second instalment of the “Our Family” campaign is all things A$AP.
Featuring the entire mob—Rocky, Ferg, Nast, Twelvyy, Ant, Lou and J. Scott—set in a barn, it follows on from the first instalment featuring Solange, Kelela and Dev Hynes. Photographer Willy Vanderperre is once again behind the imagery for the campaign, that sees the whole of the A$AP Mob transforming the well-known tagline #mycalvins into one more fitting for the hip-hop collective—“Our Calvins”.
A$AP Rocky’s a well-known fan of the Belgian designer who sits at the helm of one of the most influential brands doing the rounds of recent years, even writing a song called “Please Don’t Touch My Raf” in which “Raf” is said a total of 27 times. He also penned the tribute for Simons when he was named one of the 100 most influential people of 2017, writing:
“I feel like Raf Simons is important for the culture based on the fact that he built a whole new religion around fashion. It’s to the point where kids, male and female alike, will get in full arguments over why he’s the greatest. And it’s amazing how his prior work, his archive, is more important and relevant than anything that’s out today.
When you wrap your mind around the concept that he wrote the future of fashion and design in the 1990s and early 2000s, then you’ll also understand why Raf is the greatest to ever do it. And that’s the history of my world with Raf Simons.”
Calvin Klein is set to unveil more from their “Our Family” campaign throughout 2018, highlighting influential cultural figures that embody a sense of family—both born and made.
