Been Asked For Some Good New Music Lately?

At least once a week, someone asks you if you’ve heard any good new music, right?

And every week, you panic at the question, close your eyes and crook your neck to right while thousands of words and sounds dance across your brain screen like a washing machine at a roller disco, and then you open your eyes, turn to the person who asked, and sheepishly reply, “No.” This week’s gonna be different, bud. Here you go.

Phoenix – Ti Amo

This song could put Scrooge’s dying grandpa in a good mood. Also, this video is the Instagram feed I wish I could see instead of, well, yours. The song is the title track from Phoenix’s sixth studio album, which was released back in July.

Hamilton Leithauser – Heartstruck (Wild Hunger) ft. Angel Olsen

If I could sing like this, I’d never shut up. I mean, I don’t shut up anyway, and I can’t sing at all. Hamilton Leithauser is the lead singer of New York band The Walkmen, who are on hiatus while Hamilton and some other band members explore solo careers. Listening to this, I think that’s a great idea.

Jaye Bartell – Give Erin a Compliment (So Kind) ft. Angel Olsen

Angel Olsen sure has an ear for good music to feature on, and also a good voice to feature. Here she is again, this time teaming up with Brooklyn’s Jaye Bartell. The track is from his new album, In a Time of Trouble a Wild Exultation, which was released last week. Also, Erin is my name. Do what Jaye says.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – Crumbling Castle

Though they proved themselves ages ago, it seems King Gizzard are still out to lock in the title of most prolific band ever. They just dropped this gem out of the blue a few days ago. The only other artist that release this much music is Ty Segall, and I always wondered how he did it because I think he smokes a lot of weed. And now, thinking about it, I feel like these guys do too. How come it makes some people want to do stuff other than eat?

Thundercat – Show You The Way (feat. Michael McDonald & Kenny Loggins)

Remember that time you thought you were smooth? Lol, me neither.
