The 2017 MC Photo Comp is Now Open for Business

Money and fame await, enter below.

The feather in our cap, subject of the most heated debates, and last but not least, the best party we throw all year. Yes, we’re talking about our annual MC Photo Comp, which kicks off this very moment. The floodgates are open, the $30k prize money is waiting, and we’re ready to see the best shots you have. Last year we had winners from all around the globe, one of which talked his way into a job at Monster Children and who we fondly keep in the dark basement of our office, yelling instructions at him through the floorboards every so often. Winning this photo comp can really take you places.

WINNER OF THE 2016 CORONA EXTRA TRAVEL CATEGORY, BY VICTOR ANTOINE KUEBART

So, let’s get stuck into the finer details. There’s six categories: Travel, Action, Lifestyle, Portrait, Music and Student, and a $5k purse for the winner of each. As well as that pretty kitty, your winning entry will also get featured in the pages of our Monster Children Photo Annual magazine, which means that you’ll be featured alongside some of our all-time favourite photographers. You can enter as many times you like, in as many different categories as you like.

Winner of the 2016 Lifestyle category, by James Bowden

Yes, the Girls category is no longer. In its place will be our Portrait category, which we encourage you not to take too literally—aspiring actor headshot and passport photos while appreciated, probably won’t help you take out the big prize. A portrait photo should be a representation of someone, telling a story about who they are through the eyes of the photographer.

Entries close the 5th of November, so start sorting through your archives, ‘cause there’s no time like the present, right?
