Fathy John Misty has teamed up with Chris Hopewell to release post-apocalyptic stop motion animation for his song ‘Things It Would Have Been Helpful To Know Before The Revolution’.
Hopewell has directed videos for an enviable list in the past, including Radiohead (for ‘Burn The Witch’) The Killers, Franz Ferdinand and Run the Jewels. The video sees the lonely character walking through barren landscapes, littered with placards displaying the lyrics to Father John Misty’s nihilistic musings. We spoke recently to FJM, where not only did his coyotes follow us, but he explained his approach to the songwriting process:
“My only goal is to write beautiful songs and say what’s on my mind. I can be really tone deaf in terms of a sentiment or a song that, to me, feels very normal yet comes off as completely, ballistically insane to people. But if I sat down to actually write something weird, intentionally, it would probably be dogshit.”
Watch stop motion at its best, above.
