No Static in the Stars is Surf/Music Done Right

No Static in the Stars is a collection of short films all focused around the ocean.

The brainchild of Spunk Records’ Aaron Curnow, No Static in the Stars features 14 short films broken up into categories: documentary, art-house, surf short, and oceanography. And, just to drop a few names, in the music world you’ve got The Middle East, Smog, Gold Class, Angel Olsen, Ty Segall, Cass McCombs, Tiny Ruins and The Windy Hills. In the surf segment you’ve got Craig Anderson, Creed McTaggart and Ryan Burch, not to mention the art of Peter Halasz and Nicholas Harding and the camera work of Mick Waters and Jon Frank (as seen in the beautiful clip above).

Following on from Last Hope, the film that Curnow made with surf savant Andrew Kidman, No Static in the Stars is set for release on 29th September—the first 500 orders will receive the CD sound track featuring all of the artists featured in the film—and will be touring the east coast of Australia in October, watch this space for your nearest premiere.

Classic Jon Frank.
