RATS is a magazine of many things—just not words.
For Heavy Time’s third issue, they’ve asked artist Stefan Marx to curate his favourite artists for RATS (and the lineup he’s wrangled just proves the guy’s got taste). Though there does seem to be a preference for monochromatic work, the overarching requirement for inclusion in Stefan’s list of faves is that you draw, and you draw good. So if you’re in Melbourne, first of all, congratulations! You don’t get the government telling you when to go to bed like us poor folks here in Sydney. Secondly, you should really head along to RVCA’s Corner Gallery in Collingwood to check it out. Not just because you missing out on seeing a collection this good is just silly, but also because Stefan’s going to be there on opening night along with Masanao Hirayama, who’ll be creating a wall during the show. Get there.
RATS, featuring work by Thomas Baldischwlyer, Linus Bill & Adrien Horni, Quentin Chambry, Susan Cianciolo, Espen Frieberg, Ingo Giezendanner, Masanao Hirayama, Francesco Igory, Deiana, Ken Kagami, Zebadiah Keneally, Rhys Lee, Marcus Oakley, Jason Polan, Wesley Willis, as well as the man himself, Stefan Marx.
Opening May 12, 6-8pm @ The Heavy Time Institute, RVCA Corner Gallery, Melbourne. Exhibition continues May 12 – June 7.
