This week began with heavy hearts and big smiles.
Mark Oblow flew over and organized a day in celebration of our friend Dylan Rieder. We met at Sandy Beach early in the morning to spread some of his ashes, share stories and roll around to some of his favorite spots on the island. D’s Sister Makenna came out, as well as a handful of friends from all over. Mark spoke a bit about sharing his home of Oahu with Dylan and how much he grew to love it and also how Sandy’s was one of his favorite places, where he’d stay in the water for hours. It was a beautiful morning to say the least.
Around our house, familiar faces are always stopping by, so I’ll usually try and snap a portrait of everyone that rolls through. I’ll also take this opportunity to shamelessly plug my photo exhibition, Wintertide at Treehouse in Honolulu. I put together a collection of photographs that were mainly shot here on the North Shore over the past couple years. It was a fun night clinking beers with friends and photo-nerding with people. The opening reception was Saturday night, and the show will be up until December 18th.
