Twin Peaks Talk Australian

monster-children-twin-peaks-show-2

Chicago’s finest ratbags, Twin Peaks, are only a few weeks away from hitting our fine shores for the first time ever. Presented by MC, the dudes will play three dates across the east coast of Aus—Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Before they touch down, we wanted to ask them a couple of questions about their expectations once they land. Singer and guitarist Cadien James hooked us up with some insights.

MC: It’s your first time playing shows in Australia. What are you expecting from the crowds here?

CJ: To rock and maybe give us a toke of sweet Australian weed. We’re really excited to see the country and get a taste for the people and culture! Our USA label mates Daywave were just there and it looked like a great time. I expect crowds to enjoy songs off the new record.

What’s the best Australian slang you know?

To be honest I’m not aware of much Australian slang! But The Dune Rats are always smoking spliff bowls when we see them. We don’t usually mix weed and tobacco outside of papers, but they’ll pack a bowl full of both and rip it in one hit. Impressive.

One question on the Australian citizen test is what it means if someone asks you to “bring a plate.”Do you know what that means?

Give me food?

The new record is called Down in Heaven. Does that mean Hell is upstairs?

Absolutely! The name really is a play on the notion that even when you’re blessed with so much and doing what you want to do, life will still throw you curveballs and things will bring you down. Everything comes in dualities.

What is the best song to dedicate to your uncle on this record?

“Have You Ever?” Because it’s essentially a list of questions that you could theoretically ask your uncle.

The last year has been pretty crazy for you guys, and you must have met some heroes of yours along the way. Who is one person you wish you could re-meet and why?

Donovan, cause we got wasted and we were loving each other. I’d like to re-meet him so I could potentially remember more of the moment.

Lastly, you play your last show in Sydney on Bono’s birthday. Anything you want to say to him?

Happy birthday and eat my shorts! I don’t want the new U2 stuff on my phone automatically, but I loved “Beautiful Day” as a kid.
